Flagstaff Celiac Support Group
Meeting Recap Archive
October 2009
Jacque reported that Olive Garden now has a gluten free menu and she said she had a enjoyable and safe meal there. The server was knowledgable and accommodating. She also has been in communication with the manager at Albertson's who says he will do his best to start carrying more gluten free items if we give him a list of things we want to buy on a regular basis. The only item that came from the group, in addition to those already on Jacque's list, was Tinkyada pasta - including spinach pasta. If you would like to add more, please send your information to this website. She'll need the name and size of the product along with the UPC code for it.
Those who attended the Mt. Hope Gluten Free Fair reported enjoying it as usual. Susanna won one of the gift baskets! Jeanette shared information about a couple of products she found and liked: Koyo organic brown rice chips (actually very thin crackers) and Boulder Canyon rice and adzuki bean snack chips. She hasn't seen either product locally but they may be carried at some of the stores in Phoenix.
Brenda said she found the gluten free bakery in Phoenix and happened to visit on a day when they were having a tasting. Yum!
There was discussion about Lynn's idea of providing more information about celiac disease. Jeanette had drafted a brochure but said she was unclear whether the audience was doctors or patients. Susanna said she thought physician's were informed because she was seeing an increasing number of requests for celiac tests at the hospital. She thought the brochure should be for patients. A couple of revisions to the draft were suggested and Jeanette will make the changes and bring the draft back for another review.
